Tutorial: Setting Options for Color, Theme, and Sound


PointScribe allows you to customize settings for color, themes, sounds and music.

You can make these selections in two ways: in the Lesson Editor screen, or as part of a saved Student Preferences profile.

Lesson Editor Screen: Setting Color, Theme, and Sound Options

(A) Make selections on the right side of the Lesson Editor screen to customize a lesson with your choice of color, theme, and sound.

  • Drop down menus for selecting options for color, themes, sounds, and music are located on the right side of the Lesson Editor screen.

    • Color options: select colors for background, shape color, shape centerline, and ink color.
      • PointScribe will not let you make illogical color choices such as selecting the same color for shape and ink.

    • Theme Options: select from categories with themes of intuitve pairs, disable animated themes completely.
    • Sound options:
      • Background music: plays while stroke is in motion correctly; can be on or off, a specific song, or random selection
      • Negative alarm: sounds when student writes outside the tolerance band for a shape; can be on or off, a specific sound, or random selection
      • Positive reward: sounds when a shape is completed successfully; can be on or off, a specific sound, or random selection
      • Voice cues and gender: announces each built-in shape; male or female, before and/or after each shape is executed; or disabled.

Student Preferences Screen: Setting Color, Theme, and Sound Options

  • (B) Select the blue Manage Students/Groups button on the red Control Panel.

  • (C) Select the Students tab.

  • (D) Select the Student.

  • (E) Select Student Preferences from the top of that window.

  • (F) (G) Make selections on the left side of the Student Preferences window to save preferences for an individual student's favorite color and sound. Select theme on the right side of the screen.
