Tutorial: User Created Shapes: Build a Maze or Graphic

The User Created feature in PointScribe lets you create simple mazes.

For example, the maze in this example is designed to teach students the early literacy concept of moving left to right, top to bottom across page.

To create a maze:

  • (A) Select the blue User Created button in the Build Custom Content area located on the left side of the Lesson Editor Screen. The User Created Palette will appear.

  • (B) From the menu across the top of the palette screen, select desired line thickness, guidelines, and whether or not you want a centerline between the guidelines.

  • (C) Draw your maze.

  • (D) At the bottom of the page, select Save (or Reset to begin again).

  • (E) (F)Type in the name of the newly created maze, then click the OK button.

  • (G) Exit.

To use the maze you've created in a lesson:
There are two ways to use the shapes you create in a lesson: by themselves, or as part of a Sequence.

Using a maze by itself:

  • (G) Select User Created from the Shape Library drop down menu in the

Lesson Content area located on the left side of the Lesson Editor screen.

  • (H) Select the name of the maze you created from the Shape Type drop down menu located beneath the Shape Library drop down menu.

  • (I) Select the Start Lesson Pencil on lower left to launch the lesson.

Using a maze as part of a Sequence:

When a student is presented with your User Created shapes, all of the same properties that apply to shapes from PointScribe's built-in libraries apply: start and stop points, crumb trails, centerlines, immediate feedback, Tutor Options and more. All customizable settings (colors, sound, audible cues, etc.) available for built-in content are also available for use with User Created Shapes.
