Our profoundly autistic teenage son previously demonstrated tactile prompt dependency from his instructors when handwriting that we could not fade despite years of effort on the part of all those who worked with him. Within a short period of time he is now writing with complete independence with Pointscribe, and his emerging progress at transferring these handwriting skills to chalkboard and paper are very promising.
His longtime OT has said that ordinarily she would be hesitant to continue to pursue these handwriting goals with such a challenged student at such a late age, if it were not for his obvious joy and the success that he demonstrates when using Pointscribe.
