PointScribe displays everything you need to create, customize, and administer dynamic lesson content ---from one location---the Lesson Editor screen.

Within seconds, and with just few clicks, begin teaching, assessing or building targeted intervention strategies personalized for one student or every student in your classroom.

Lesson Editor Screen

  • The red Control Panel at the left of the Lesson Editor lets you select teaching mode (individual student or classroom of students), classroom, student name, and saved lessons.

  • The Control Panel also provides access to all administrative functions such as adding, deleting, and editing students and classrooms, running reports, adding comments and viewing licensing details.
  • The Lesson Editor screen allows select Lesson Content, build Custom Content, set PointScribe Tutor Options, preview visual options, select color combinations, choose animation Themes, and set Sound preferences.
  • The Sequence Manager and User Created Palette can be accessed by clicking the blue buttons in the Build Custom Content area of the Lesson Editor screen.
  • The Start Lesson pencil launches a lesson based on all of the chosen parameters for the student or classroom selected.

COLORS

Colors

  • Select colors for background screen, color of shape, ink color of line created on screen and centerline of letter.
  • PointScribe will not allow color combinations that conflict with visibility of features.
THEME  
Category
  • A general area of interest such as sports, animals, or vehicles from which to select more specific graphics.
  • You may disable this option.
Graphic
  • The intuitive animated pairs that appear during the lesson, for example, a mouse and cheese, or baseball and glove.
SOUND
Negative Sound
  • Played when a student writes outside of the shape.
  • This option allows you to choose one consistent sound, or a random variation of sounds.
  • You may disable this option.
Positive Sound
  • Played when a student succeeds in completing the shape.
  • This option allows you to choose one consistent sound, or a random variation of sounds.
  • You may disable this option.
  • This option is NOT available when "post" Cues are enabled.
Background Music
  • Played when a student is in the process of successfully completing a stroke.
  • This option allows you to choose one consistent song, or a random variation of songs.
  • You may disable this option.
Voice Cues & Gender
  • Auditory cues announce letters, shapes and numbers from the built-in libraries.
  • You can choose a male or female voice.
  • You can choose to have the cues before and/or after the letter is created by the student.
  • You may disable this option.
  • This option is NOT available when Positive Sounds are enabled.
TUTOR OPTIONS

Tutor

  • When the Tutor feature is enabled, PointScribe captures and analyze handwriting data.
  • When the Tutor is disabled, no data is recorded.
Auto Correction
  • When Auto Correction is enabled, students are moved back to the beginning of a stroke when they go outside of the shape boundary.
  • When Auto Correction is disabled, students are not corrected and work uninterrupted as they form letters.
Accuracy Goal
  • The target percent accuracy for the shapes in the lesson.
Achievement Goal
  • The number of times the accuracy goal must be met before a student is advanced a level for any given shape.
Repeat Lesson
  • The number of times lesson content is repeated.
Visual Cues
  • Three levels:
    • Beginner = animations, crumb trail and center line
    • Intermediate = crumb trail and center line.
    • Advanced = center line only
  • Can select one level, or opt have PointScribe automatically remove visual cues as levels advance.
Scoring Display
  • Show percent accuracy numerically.
  • Show progress toward advancement graphically.
  • Option to show both or neither.
